New Governor Freezes Edo's Bank Accounts, Vows to Investigate Obaseki's Administration

Governor Monday Okpebholo has taken a bold step in freezing all state-owned bank accounts in Edo State, effective immediately. This decision aims to investigate the activities of the previous administration led by Governor Godwin Obaseki . Okpebholo's spokesman, Fred Itua, announced that commercial banks, ministries, departments, and agencies must comply with the order, ensuring no funds are withdrawn until further notice.

The governor's move is seen as a significant effort to promote transparency and accountability in Edo State's finances. Okpebholo criticized the previous administration's handling of the state's resources, particularly in the Ministry of Roads and Bridges, which he renamed to the Ministry of Works. "It's ironic that the previous administration focused on roads and bridges, yet failed to build a single bridge, not even a pedestrian bridge," Okpebholo said.

As Okpebholo's administration begins to take shape, residents of Edo State await the outcome of these investigations. The governor plans to review more actions taken by the previous administration, with further decisions to be made in the best interest of the state. This move is expected to promote good governance and ensure that the state's resources are utilized efficiently.

Okpebholo's victory in the Edo State governorship election was seen as a significant upset, with some analysts predicting a victory for the PDP. Now, as governor, Okpebholo is taking concrete steps to address the state's financial management and infrastructure development.

The people of Edo State are watching closely, expecting meaningful change and progress under their new governor. With Okpebholo's commitment to transparency and accountability, Edo State may be on the path to a brighter future.
