Oseloka Obi Breaks Silence on Online Gossip, Defends Father’s Integrity

Abuja, Nigeria — 

Oseloka Obi, son of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, has issued a strongly worded statement addressing persistent rumors, falsehoods, and online gossip linking his personal life to his father’s political career.

In an open letter to Nigerians, Oseloka said he had long refrained from responding to false narratives but decided it was time to correct misconceptions. According to him, many of the stories circulating online are based on ordinary photos taken out of context and repackaged as scandal.

“These are not revelations. They are not ‘exposés.’ They are simply misinterpretations; fiction spun from pictures,” he wrote.

Oseloka, who is an actor and filmmaker, emphasized that unlike the children of many politicians, his career path is independent of his father’s political and economic background. He noted that while Peter Obi supports his career, he does not rely on his father’s wealth and continues to build his own life.

He dismissed attempts to link his lifestyle choices to politics, describing such insinuations as petty.

“It reveals more about the pettiness of those spreading such narratives than it does about me or my father,” he said.

Calling for an end to distractions, Oseloka urged Nigerians to focus on the pressing challenges facing the country, including poverty, healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

“Nigeria has far greater issues than idle speculation about what Peter Obi’s son is doing or not doing,” he stated.

While acknowledging that neither he nor his father are perfect, Oseloka attested to Peter Obi’s integrity and determination to serve the country.

“My father has my vote, not because he is my father, but because he is the right man for the job,” he affirmed.

He concluded by urging detractors to stop spreading lies, pledging instead to “go high” and continue working for the future of Nigeria.
