Welcome To Glint News.....
As the yuletide season approaches, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is intensifying its efforts to ensure road safety across Nigeria. The Katsina State Command of the FRSC has reiterated the importance of passengers speaking up against dangerous driving, emphasizing that "only the living can celebrate." This call to action is part of the 2024 Ember Months Campaign, which focuses on reducing road traffic crashes during the festive period and beyond.
According to the FRSC Sector Commander, Aliyu Ma’aji, the campaign is centered on the theme "Speak up against dangerous driving: Road traffic crash kills more passengers than drivers." Ma’aji urged drivers to adhere to traffic rules and regulations, while also encouraging passengers to exercise their rights by speaking up against reckless drivers. He noted that the command has organized a series of activities to raise awareness about road safety, including public sensitization at motor parks, mosques, churches, markets, and other public places.
The state government's efforts to maintain a good roads network across the state have also been commended by Ma’aji, who believes that this will contribute significantly to reducing road accidents. The state Coordinator of the Special Marshalls, Peter Gyang, stressed the need for educating both drivers and passengers on the behavioral tendencies that can cause accidents on the highways. He urged drivers to continue adhering to traffic rules and regulations to reduce road traffic accidents.
The Chairman of the park, Shattima Muhammad, who is also a Special Marshall, appreciated the command for selecting their motor park for enlightenment. He urged drivers to heed the advice given during the campaign to ensure a hitch-free yuletide season and beyond.
The FRSC's efforts to promote road safety are not limited to Katsina State. Across the country, the corps is working tirelessly to reduce road traffic crashes. In Ondo State, for example, the FRSC has launched a sensitization campaign, urging commuters to speak out against reckless driving ¹. The corps has also digitized its operations, making it easier for road users to report incidents and access assistance.
As the yuletide season approaches, it is essential for road users to remain vigilant and report any instances of reckless driving. By speaking up, passengers can help prevent accidents and ensure a safe journey for all. The FRSC's toll-free lines, 112 and 122, are available for road users to report incidents and access assistance ¹.
By working together, we can make our roads safer and reduce the risk of accidents. Remember, road safety is everyone's responsibility, and by speaking up, we can all contribute to a safer and more enjoyable yuletide season.
