Enugu State Government Hails Arrest of Simon Ekpa, Labels Him a Terrorist with No Interest in Biafra

The Enugu State Government has commended the Finnish government for the arrest of Simon Ekpa, the Finland-based leader of the Autopilots gang. In a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, Ekpa was described as a common criminal, con man, and terrorist who has no interest in the well-being of the Igbo people ¹.

The government also labeled Ekpa a murderer and fraudster who delights in killing his own people and living off their misery. Enugu State has expressed its willingness to provide evidence of Ekpa-sponsored atrocities against Ndigbo to aid his trial and conviction, whether in Finland or Nigeria.

According to the Enugu State Government, Ekpa's arrest and trial will strengthen peace, security, and stability in the South East region. This development is in line with the demand of Governor Peter Mbah's administration, which has repeatedly condemned Ekpa's activities.

Ekpa has been accused of creating a siege climate and mentality in the South East, destroying lives, property, and the Igbo trademark of entrepreneurship and hard work. He allegedly thrives on manipulating, exploiting, and extorting the people on the pretext of fighting for their interest and for the restoration of Biafra.

The Enugu State Government has welcomed Ekpa's arrest, stating that it will go a long way in restoring peace and stability in the region. The government has also urged the Finnish authorities to ensure that Ekpa faces justice for his crimes.

In a related development, Governor Peter Mbah has described Simon Ekpa as a murderer, scammer, and common criminal who feeds on the emotions and sufferings of the Igbo people ¹. The governor has enjoined the people of the South East region to disregard Ekpa's threats and sit-at-home orders.

As the trial of Simon Ekpa unfolds, the Enugu State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the lives and properties of its citizens. The government has also urged the international community to support its efforts in bringing Ekpa to justice.
