"Massive Security Boost for Schools: State Gvt to Recruit 17,600 Guards and Hunters

In a bold move to safeguard education, a northern Nigerian state is set to recruit an impressive 17,600 security guards and local hunters to protect its public schools. This ambitious plan aims to ensure maximum security across 44 local government areas, providing a safe learning environment for students.

Commissioner for Education, Umar Doguwa, emphasized the need for collective efforts between government, individuals, and non-governmental organizations to drive education forward. "For education to progress, we must work together to address the challenges surrounding the sector," he stressed.

The state government has already demonstrated its commitment to education by declaring a state of emergency in the sector. Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf's administration has taken concrete steps to improve education, including distributing teaching materials to schools, providing furniture, renovating and constructing new classrooms, and training and retraining staff.

To achieve its education goals, the government will continue collaborating with old students and other non-governmental organizations to implement more programs to enhance education in the state. The focus is now on three key areas: access, quality, and infrastructure development.

The recruitment of 17,600 security guards and local hunters is a critical component of this strategy. This significant investment in school security will provide students with a safe and supportive environment to learn and grow. Additionally, the government's willingness to engage with local communities and leverage their expertise in security matters is a testament to its commitment to finding effective solutions.

The Nigerian Hunter & Forest Security Service (NHFSS) is also playing a crucial role in securing the country's forests and bushes. With 42,500 total personnel and 2,000 operations, NHFSS is working tirelessly to prevent and detect crimes in Nigeria's forests.

Represented by the ministry's permanent secretary, Kubra Imam, Commissioner Doguwa reiterated the Ministry of Works' readiness to work with old student associations across the state to improve the standard of education. This partnership underscores the importance of community involvement in shaping the future of education.

As the state moves forward with its ambitious education agenda, stakeholders are optimistic about the potential for transformative change. By prioritizing security, access, quality, and infrastructure development, the government is laying the groundwork for a brighter future for its students.

The visit of the Rumfa Old Boys Association, Class '94, to the Commissioner for Education marked a significant moment in this journey. Their discussion highlighted the importance of collective efforts in driving education forward and underscored the role of community engagement in shaping the sector's future.
