Nigerian Army Lieutenant Arrested for Homosexual Acts, Molestation of Junior Colleagues

A shocking scandal has rocked the Nigerian Army, as a Lieutenant has been arrested for allegedly engaging in homosexual acts and molesting junior colleagues in Borno State. The suspect, identified as Lieutenant Abubakar, was caught in the act last month in Bama, Borno State.

According to military sources, the Lieutenant's arrest was a result of a thorough investigation, which revealed that he had been engaging in forceful homosexual acts with his junior colleagues for a long time. The sources confirmed that the military police under the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army arrested the suspect with clear evidence.

"A serving officer was last month arrested while engaging in forceful homosexual act with his junior colleagues in Bama, Borno State. He was arrested with clear evidence and is under investigation with 7th Division military police," a source told SaharaReporters.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many condemning the Lieutenant's actions as unacceptable and unbecoming of a military officer. "Homosexual is now common among senior officers and junior ones here in the army. Getting so rampant but the army authorities instead of shaming these guys are covering this bad act," a Captain in the army lamented.

In Nigeria, homosexual acts are a criminal offense under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act 2013, signed by former President Goodluck Jonathan. In the 12 Northern states that have adopted Shari'a law, including Borno, the maximum punishment for homosexual acts is death by stoning. However, under the secular criminal laws of Northern Nigeria, the maximum punishment is 14 years' imprisonment.

The Nigerian Army has a responsibility to maintain discipline and uphold the law among its personnel. The arrest of Lieutenant Abubakar sends a strong message that such behavior will not be tolerated. However, it also raises concerns about the prevalence of homosexual acts within the military and the need for a more comprehensive approach to addressing this issue.

As the investigation into Lieutenant Abubakar's actions continues, it is essential that the Nigerian Army takes concrete steps to prevent such incidents in the future. This includes providing training and education on the unacceptability of homosexual acts and molestation, as well as ensuring that those found guilty of such offenses face the full weight of the law.
