"Bauchi First Lady Reaffirms Commitment to Empowering Girl Child"

Bauchi State First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, has reaffirmed her unwavering dedication to supporting the growth and development of the girl child in Nigeria. Speaking at a ceremony celebrating the 2024 International Day of the Girl Child, she emphasized her commitment to partnering with stakeholders to address the myriad challenges facing young girls.

Organized by her office, the Ministry of Education, and the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), the event aimed to promote girls' education, empowerment, and well-being. The International Day of the Girl Child, observed annually on October 11, highlights girls' rights, challenges, and potential, with this year's theme, "Digital Generation, Our Generation," emphasizing the importance of technology in empowering girls.

Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed commended the Ministry of Education and AGILE, assuring continued support from her office and the Al-Muhibba Foundation, which she established to focus on education, healthcare, and economic empowerment for women and girls.

"The empowerment of girls is crucial for the development of our society," she stated. "We must ensure girls have access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities."

Bauchi State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Jamila Dahiru, appreciated the state government's efforts in improving girls' education and living standards. She acknowledged Governor Bala Mohammed's unwavering support for girls' empowerment.

"Governor Bala Mohammed's administration is committed to creating an enabling environment for girls to thrive," Dr. Dahiru said.

The AGILE project coordinator emphasized the initiative's focus on educating and empowering girls for sustainable growth and development.

"AGILE seeks to equip girls with skills, knowledge, and confidence to overcome challenges and reach their full potential," the coordinator explained.

This event demonstrates the collective commitment to enhancing the lives of young girls in Bauchi State. The Bauchi State Government, Ministry of Education, AGILE, and Al-Muhibba Foundation have pledged continued collaboration to advance girls' empowerment.
