Residents of Anambra State have been left horrified following the arrest of a 33-year-old man, identified as Ifechukwu Okechukwu, who is accused of murdering his 23-year-old girlfriend and secretly burying her remains in Nkpor, an incident that has triggered widespread outrage and renewed concerns over violence against women in the state.

The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the suspect’s arrest in an official statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga. According to police investigations, the child had allegedly been subjected to severe physical abuse over an extended period. During preliminary interrogation, one of the suspects, Mrs. Chisom Chukwuyere, reportedly admitted to using melted plastic to inflict burns on the victim, a revelation that has further heightened public outrage.
Authorities confirmed that the boy has been rescued from the alleged abusive environment and is currently receiving medical care and psychological support.
Child protection officials and investigators are also working to determine the full extent of the abuse and whether additional individuals may have been involved or aware of the acts.
